Purple Communications, a phone company funded by the U.S. Federal Government, enables deaf consumers to conduct voice phone calls through an American sign-language interpreter. Purple’s video relay service enables users to dial any 10-digit phone number in the U.S. and connect through video to an interpreter who places the call, and then relays the conversation.
In addition, Purple offers a video remote interpreting service that allows consumers, clinicians, and professionals to communicate seamlessly with the hearing-impaired in real-time using sign language interpreters.
